Earning... it's the way we think.
But, our relationship with God can't be earned. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:9, "Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done..."
We get that - Jesus paid the price on the cross. But, do we live that way? How often do we try to earn God's love in our lives? How often do we try to work our way back to God when we have sinned? The earning mentality is something that is alive and well in us all.
But God loves us like a Father loves a child. The love isn't earned. The care isn't earned. The relationship itself isn't earned - it just "is." Today, as you go about your routine, remember that there is nothing you can do to earn God's love. He loves you just because he does. There is a lot of hope and freedom in that fact.
